FAQs
What is it?
We put 7 cask imperial stouts in 7 different pubs in York and invite you along to come and drink them with us. If you would like to tick off the venues, we have stamp books to follow which, once completed, can be swapped for a gift bag.
When is it?
29th March 2025
What time does it start?
The first pubs to open are House of Trembling Madness Lendal and Angel On The Green - however what time you start your Imperial March is completely up to you.
What times are the pubs open on the day?
Trembling Madness 10am - 11am
Eagle & Child 12pm - 11pm
The Last Drop Inn 12pm - 12am
The Phoenix Inn 2pm - 11pm
The Swan 12pm - 12am
Angel On The Green - 10am - 11pm
The Falcon 12pm - 11:30pm
What time does it end?
There is no official end time - the beer runs out when the beer runs out!
Where do I get my stamp book?
All participating pubs have stamp books available on the day.
Do I have to do a particular order?
No - you choose! However the recommended route in terms of smallest distance between venues is: House of Trembling Madess > The Eagle & Child > The Last Drop Inn > The Phoenix Inn > The Swan >The Angel on The Green > The Falcon
How far is there to walk?
The total distance is around 2 miles (45mins) using our recommended route. Pubs are between 2 and 15 minutes apart.
Will the beers run out?
Most will last for the duration of the Saturday - however not longer.
Where do I get my gift bag?
Gift bags will be distributed from The Falcon. Gift bags are subject to availability on the day (but we have budgeted for plenty of finishers)
How much can I have of the beer?
The beers are served in thirds or halves
Do I have to go to all the pubs?
Yes, if you want to fill your stamp card to claim your giftbag. But don’t feel that you have to complete the route - if you are just wanting to try a few of the stouts you are still welcome to come along!
Can I drink other beers instead?
For a stamp on the card, you’ll need to have a measure of the IM stout. In the event that the IM stout sells out during the day, having any measure of another TP beer in that pub will get you a stamp
Has this happened before?
This is our fourth year!
What allergens are in the beers?
Each pub will be able to advise on allergens in the beers being poured. If there is a beer you are unable to drink due to allergens, they will be able to offer an alternative beer. Unfortunately, the exception to this is coeliac and gluten intolerance.
Where can I get food?
Of the participating pubs, the following serve food:
House of Trembling Madness
Eagle & Child
The Last Drop Inn
Angel on The Green
We'd also recommend Spark: York for food - they are not on the official route, but easy to find in central York.
Disabled Access
Due to the nature of York buildings, some of the venues do have steps on the entry-way. Please do contact them if you have specific accessibility requirements.
Can I bring my dog?
You sure can! All the pubs on the march are dog friendly
